Independent Learners
I believe that in order to manage an effective learning environment teachers should strive to encourage their students to be independent learners. Preparing students to be independent in certain aspects of their learning could assist the teacher in time management, individualised learning for all students and development of students organisational skills.
Time Management & Individualised Learning
National Professional Standards for Teachers: Encouraging students to become independent learners relates to the 2nd National Standard; ‘Know the content and how to teach it.’ More specifically it reflects standard 2.1 ‘content and teaching strategies of teaching area’ as I believe that teaching students independence will assist in various teaching areas and learning through the students taking increased responsibility for their education and replying less heavily on the teacher.
