Promoting Independence through Daily Routines
During my time on placement in a toddler room, I observed a number of daily routines and rituals, such as: meal time, nappy changing and sleeping. I believe that children can gain greater independence and further development by promoting independence in each of these daily routines. This will help children grow and develop in ways that meet the Early Years Learning Framework’s outcomes, including: children have a strong sense of identity (outcome 1), children have a strong sense of wellbeing (outcome 3) and children are confident and involved learners (outcome 4) (Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations for the Council of Australian Governments, 2009).
